After her first visit to Patagonia in 2018, she has been unable to keep herself away from the region coming back year after year. We will visit Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina. This includes the Huemul Circuit as well as day hikes.

Weather

Patagonian weather is notorious for being unpredictable. February is the middle of summer in the Southern Hemisphere with average highs around 17-18 C (62-64 F) & the average lows around 6-7 C (43-45 F)

Terrain

The terrain is varied and includes everything from glaciers and lakes to forests and grasslands.

Altitude

Located at the foothills of the Andes, you will begin at sea level and the highest elevation reached is 1,540 meters (5,052 feet) above sea level. It is unlikely to experience altitude sickness.

to El
Chalten

We will meet you in the Comandante Armando Tola International Airport (FTE) airport & bring you to El Chalten, a mountain town nestled between the Andes Mountains.

Paso del Viento

The group will hike for 30-40 minutes and cross the Rio Tunel using a fixed cable and harnesses or by wading through the river, depending on the conditions and the guide's decision. The ascent to Paso del Viento will continue through trails, moraines, and the Túnel Glacier, offering views of the Patagonian Ice Field, Glaciar Viedma, and Cerro Mariano Moreno. The day's hike concludes at the Paso del Viento.

We will continue the hike bordering Cerro Huemul and Glacier Viedma on the other side, towards the East, until we reach Paso Huemul (1000m/a/s/l). There are great views of the Glaciar during the entire trip. From Paso Huemul we will appreciate the front of the Viedma Glacier and its lake. It’s also common to see condors flying close by. We will spend the night in a Lenga Forrest.

Take a break from hiking and explore the charming town by visiting local shops, enjoying coffee and empanadas at a cafe or simply taking in the stunning views of Fitz Roy.
Embark on a shorter hike to nearby attractions like Mirador Los Condores, Mirador Las Aguilas, or Lago del Desierto.
For those who want to relax and unwind, there are plenty of spas and wellness centers that offer massages, hot tubs, saunas, and other treatments to rejuvenate the body and mind.
